Fishdance
15'6" Sportboat
Fishdance, sportboat

This is an old-fashioned fishing boat for today.Built of white cedar with canvas in the same manner as our canoes, she is very nice under oar and also quite comfortable propeled by a small outboard motor.

Her fullness in the hull offers considerable initial stability for hunting or fishing and yet she is very nimble in the water, having some deadrise in the stern to minimize drag. This boat tracks very well and is also easy to turn - compliments of the slight "V" bottom.

She is named after a lake in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCA), a place we like to go to get away and to fish. Fishdance has become the perfect family boat for us, with plenty of room for an adventurous young girl to fish from and play in. It has also proved to be a very pleasant boat to take out to just row (or motor) around the lake. What I am enjoying about rowing is that I can face my passenger and have a conversation - not something that is easy to do in a canoe - a definte good-day ender. "How was your day, dear?" "Just fine and getting better".

For rowing we recommend the cast bronze outrigger oarlocks (an additional $300). these allow for a longer oar which provides more power and makes it more comfortable for the rower.

Moderate tumblehome, 1 1/2" of rocker in the bow and 3" of deadrise in the stern, with a shallow "V" hull.
