Saganaga
17' Tandem Canoe

Saganaga, a 17' tandem canoeThe Saganaga is named for Saganaga Lake at the end of the Gunflint Trail, which runs from Grand Marais, Minnesota to this border lake, a major entry into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Known for its big water, this lake requires a seaworthy canoe to carry supplies along the border route or across to Cache Bay and into the Quetico Provincial Park.

Our Saganaga was mentored by the Chestnut Cruiser. I lessened the rocker to make it track better when not loaded and increased the initial stability while keeping the sublime gentle sweep of the sheer line.

This canoe is a very nice wilderness tripping canoe. It is efficient under paddle and extremely seaworthy - ready to tackle a day paddle or a wilderness adventure over any lake or river.

Straight sides, 1-1/2" of rocker with a shallow arched hull.

Length: 17' Weight: 65 lbs.
Width at gunwale: 33" Depth at midships: 13"
Width at beam: 34" Height at ends: 24"
Width at 4" WL 32" Price: $4195

"I truly love my "Sag". We really like it for wilderness tripping, and it works just fine for day paddles on the rivers around here".
